About this Nominee
RCWA is an all-volunteer group dedicated to cleaning and restoring the imperiled waterways of the region. Since 1/13/2023, RCWA has hosted over 540 cleanups and removed over 1.9 MILLION pounds of trash and inorganic debris from local waterways. That's an average of more than 3,000 lbs every day for 20 consecutive months!
RCWA works in partnership with public agencies and community groups and advocates for policies that provide abatement and restoration measures to improve the long-term ecological health and sustainability of Sacramento area creeks, rivers and riparian habitats. Our most notable projects include the Sacramento River Promenade (at the Tower Bridge), Steelhead Creek, Arcade Creek, and vast sections of the American River Parkway (including Bannon Island, Tiscornia Beach, Discovery Park, Township 9, Camp Pollock, Woodlake, Sutter's Landing, Northrop Access, Howe Access, Watt Access and Sunrise Bridge).
RCWA hosts 4-6 waterway cleanups every week. Please join us!
