About this Nominee
Special Education Advocacy PTA of SJUSD (SEPTA) is a newly established districtwide nonprofit PTA dedicated to connecting, supporting, and empowering students with IEPs and 504 Plans and the families who love and support them throughout the San Juan Unified School District community.
Established in May 2026, SEPTA has quickly grown into a community of more than 70 members, bringing together families, educators, advocates, and community partners around a shared belief: every student deserves to belong, be included, and have the support they need to thrive.
SEPTA works to strengthen family engagement and advocacy by providing educational opportunities, family support, community events, school-site representation, resources, partnerships, and opportunities for families to connect with one another. We help families move from navigating special education challenges alone to becoming part of a supportive community with a stronger collective voice.
Although we are a new nonprofit, our roots are firmly planted in the Carmichael and San Juan Unified community. We are proud to build partnerships with local organizations and businesses while creating greater awareness, inclusion, and support for people with disabilities and their families.
We are families. We are educators. We are advocates. We are community. We are SEPTA.
